The 4L Rodeo Company is one of the most outstanding rodeo stock contracting companies in the southeastern United States. Founded in 1985 by champion calf roper and steer wrestler Charlie Lowry, the company has grown from five small productions its first year to producing 25 events a year. 4L Rodeo host PRCA, IPRA, NIRA and high school rodeos and rough stock schools.
In 2009 Lowry widened his vision for 4L Rodeo Company by becoming partners with David Simpson, Diamond S Bucking Bulls, Weatherford, Texas forming the 4L and Diamond S Rodeo Company. The new company has provided stock for numerous rodeos such as Cheyenne, Omaha, Odessa, San Antonio and Fort Worth. 4L & Diamond S Rodeo have provided bulls for the PRCA Xtreme Bulls as well as the Wrangler National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas.
4L & Diamond S Rodeo has featured bulls at the WNFR every year since being formed. In the 2010 race for PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year Big Iron won second. Then in 2011 PRCA bull riders voted 4L & Diamond S Rodeo bulls, Palm Springs and Big Iron, the number one and number two Bucking Bulls of the Year. 4L & Diamond S Rodeo captured the number one spot again in 2012 with a bull named Cat Balou. In 2013 six 4L & Diamond S bulls made their way to the Wrangler National Finals but none finished in the top three. Lowry has his goal set on another top three finish in 2014. three finish in 2014 season.
Charlie Lowry, the three time qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, holds seventeen championship titles in the PRCA Southeastern Circuit. In 1978 he set an arena record at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in the calf roping. In 1981 Lowry claimed the All-Around Cowboy title at the famous Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Wyoming. Along with his list of his many personal accolades this life-long cowboy was named the 2002 & 2012 Stock Contractor of the Year by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association.
For the Lowry family, rodeoing is a way of life. Charlie and his wife Wanda, a retired teacher, travel to all their rodeos as a team. Wanda serves as a rodeo timer. She is author of a children's book, TRICKY RICKY, Born to Buck. The Lowry's have two children that have always been involved in the sport of rodeo both attending colleges on rodeo scholarships. Ross, the Lowry's son, is the 2001 Southeastern Circuit Champion Team Roping Heeler and the 2009 & 2012 Southeastern Circuit Champion Team Roping Header. In 2011 Ross and his partner Stephen Brittnell captured the coveted Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo Championship.
Ross’s wife Leann, is an academic coach in elementary education.
She completes in the barrel racing.
The Lowry’s daughter Jolyn, is a special education school teacher and a rodeo secretary. Her husband, Jason is a salesman for Priefert Ranch and Rodeo Equipment and a rodeo pickup man. They have 4 children, Rylee, Kyler, Payson, and Jasey Lyn. They reside on the 4L Ranch in Summerville where they are actively involved in the Rodeo Stock Contracting business.
According to Charlie, rodeo has been good to his family. "Rodeo has not only provided a livelihood and a common bond for our family," says Lowry "it has provided an opportunity to make and develop friendships that last a lifetime."
